Parents and Friends

Parents and Friends Association

Big Hill Primary school has an active Parents & Friends Association, which offers a warm welcome to all new parents.

Parents are key partners in their child’s learning, and at Big Hill Primary School, we encourage parents and friends to participate and be involved in their child’s schooling years. There are many ways in our school that parents are able to volunteer, both inside and outside the classroom. Some ways that parents and friends may be involved throughout our school include assisting in classroom activities, sporting events or special school events, helping in the canteen or fundraising.

Parents and Friends meetings are conducted twice a term at the school.  Notification of dates are published in the Newsletter.

Our Big Hill Primary School Parents and Friends Association is also a wonderful way for our parents and friends to be involved and use their skills and expertise to work collaboratively with others, our students, and to contribute and build a sense of community in the support of Big Hill Primary School. It allows parents to help, in many different ways, to make their children’s education rich and positive. The Parents and Friends Association is a friendly group of dedicated parents and friends who enjoy volunteering their time to work together in partnership with the school for our students, school and school community.

The role of the Parents and Friends Association at Big Hill Primary School:

  • To provide support, in various forms, for the school, our students and community, including raising funds for the benefit of the school
  • To work in cooperation with the Principal, staff and school council in building effective partnerships between home and school
  • To encourage diversity by getting to know the parents of other children at the school, and to support the operation of the school.

The Parents and Friends Association plays an important role in the exchange of information and ideas between parents and the school's administration. A representative of the Parents’ and Friends Association attends School Council meetings and provides the parents of the school with a voice on the School Council.
